Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing that fills in your eyebrows. It’s meant to make your eyebrows look fuller and thicker. The procedure is also known as: 3-D eyebrow embroidery, micro-stroking, semi-permanent makeup.

During a microblading session, a technician uses a special tool to make tiny cuts in the skin. The tool consists of multiple needles connected to a handle. The technician inserts pigment into the cuts, creating the appearance of eyebrow hairs. The colour of the pigment used will depend on your preference.

If you want your eyebrows to look feathery and full, microblading is an option. It’s a semi-permanent alternative to applying makeup, like brow gel, on your eyebrows. You might also want to try microblading if you have lost eyebrow hairs, a condition known as Madarosis.

This can happen due to many reasons, such as: overplucking, Areata, alopecia, , vitiligo, chemotherapy, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, psoriasis, skin infections, trauma or injury, trichotillomania

Since microblading involves tiny cuts in the skin, it’s important to understand how the healing process works.

Read on to learn what you can usually expect  before and  after getting the procedure.

MICROBLADING

Microblading is a tattooing technique in which a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles is used to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin. Microblading differs from standard eyebrow tattooing because each hair stroke is created by hand using a blade which creates fine slices in the skin.

Eyebrow microblading healing

The microblading healing process generally takes 25 to 30 days. It starts right after your procedure.

However, how fast your skin heals will be slightly different for each person. It depends on many factors, including your ,age, overall health, skin type.

In general, during the first 10 to 14 days, your eyebrows will vary in appearance. The colour, definition, and texture will change almost every day.

You’ll also experience different sensations in your skin. At first, your face will feel tender, tight, and painful. it can feel like sunburn. This will turn into itchiness and flaking, which eventually subsides.

The results of microblading typically last 18 to 30 months. You’ll also need touch-ups every 12 to 18 months, depending on the look you want. Each touch-up session involves some healing time as well.

SHOULD I DO MICROBLADING

BEFORE OR AFTER BOTOX?

Before you get your Botox, we need to enhance your eyebrows first! Once we create the perfect symmetry for your eyebrows, your doctor will be able to determine exactly where to place the Botox injections without reshaping the correct brow position.

So make sure you microblade BEFORE Botox! and this includes your touch up!

Botox must be done after your two complete sessions Botox lifts the muscle and will move your brows so ensure you inform your Botox Doctor that you have had microblading done as to much could lead to a bad result.

MICROBLADING TOP UP

After your initial microblading appointment, once your brows have healed, you will need to return to the salon to have your microblading touch up appointment. This is typically 4-6 weeks after your first microblading session. A touch up appointment is needed for a variety of reasons. It is unknown how your skin will take the pigment, there will be fading, and there could be some unevenness that needs to be corrected. The microblading touch up appointment is done the same way as the first appointment and takes about the same amount of time.

Touch-up sessions should not be done earlier than 4 weeks after initial microblading session as pigment colour has not fully settled into the skin. your skin needs to of fully healed, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

   Who Shouldn't Get Microblading

Individuals prone to keloids, super thin skin, Rosacea or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Unfortunately, since Microblading punctures the skin with tiny needles, we cannot work with clients with these conditions.

Individuals with visible redness on the face. Broken blood vessels too close to the skin surface will cause excessive bleeding, affecting the retention of the brows. We cannot work with clients with these conditions.

Individuals with transmittable blood diseases such as HIV or Hepatitis. Microblading artists cut into the skin so it is best to not work with these conditions for the safety of our clients as these conditions greatly impact the immune system and healing process of individuals.

Individuals with auto-immune diseases. Microblading may greatly impact the immune system and healing results are not guaranteed.

If you’ve had Botox/filler in the brow area. We ask that clients wait 4 weeks after botox/filler before getting Microblading done. Alternatively, you can do the Microblading treatment first and then wait 4 weeks to do your botox/filler.

Individuals undergoing active chemotherapy.

If you have any kind of skin condition near your eyebrows. eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows.

Individuals with oily skin. Those with very oily skin and large pores are not good candidates for Microblading.

Individuals under 18 years of age

Individuals over 65 years of age. From our experience, mature skin is not an ideal candidate for Microblading.

Individuals who are pregnant or nursing

Individuals with dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoo. I do not take clients with previous work. The only exception would be if the old works is completely gone and not visible.
