About Wellness Lymphatic

Drainage Massage

The lymphatic system is an important part of the body's natural circulatory and immune systems. It helps maintain fluid balance within the tissues and transports lymph fluid, cellular waste products and immune cells throughout the body.

Wellness Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique using light, flowing movements designed to support the body's natural lymphatic circulation.

Unlike traditional massage, which often works deeper into the muscles, lymphatic drainage uses very light, repetitive movements applied to the skin, following the direction of lymphatic pathways.

At Pure Serenity Beauty, our wellness treatments are designed to provide a relaxing experience, encourage natural fluid movement and promote an overall feeling of comfort and wellbeing.

Our Full Body & Abdominal Wellness Lymphatic Drainage Massage incorporates the neck, head, décolletage, arms, abdomen, legs and back.

An Important Difference:

Wellness Treatment,

Not Medical Lymphatic Therapy

The treatments offered at Pure Serenity Beauty are wellness and relaxation treatments for generally healthy individuals.

They are not medical manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) or specialist lymphoedema treatments. They are not designed for post-operative recovery, surgical swelling, cancer-related lymphoedema or the management of any diagnosed medical condition.

Clients who have undergone surgery, cosmetic procedures or cancer treatment, or who have been diagnosed with lymphoedema, should seek advice from their treating healthcare professional and a suitably qualified specialist lymphoedema therapist.

We do not provide post-operative or oncology lymphatic drainage.

Our treatments do not diagnose, prevent or treat medical conditions, remove toxins, cause weight loss or replace the body's natural detoxification processes.

Contraindications –

When Treatment Is Not Suitable

Your safety is our priority. A consultation and health screening must be completed before every treatment.

Wellness Lymphatic Drainage Massage will not be carried out if you have any of the following:

  • Acute infection, fever or flu-like symptoms.

  • Cellulitis, erysipelas or active lymphatic infection.

  • Suspected or confirmed acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood clot.

  • Untreated or unstable heart failure or significant cardiac decompensation.

  • Acute kidney failure.

  • Acute inflammation or an active inflammatory condition.

  • Known superior vena cava obstruction.

  • Unexplained sudden swelling or suspected undiagnosed vascular problems.

  • Unexplained abdominal pain or acute abdominal illness.

We will not proceed if you appear unwell or if there is any concern that massage could compromise your health.

Medical Conditions -

Requiring Prior Medical Clearance

Please contact us before booking if you have any of the following:

  • Current or previous cancer diagnosis, including active cancer treatment.

  • Previous surgery, including cosmetic or abdominal surgery.

  • Pregnancy or recent childbirth.

  • Heart or cardiovascular conditions.

  • Kidney or liver disease.

  • A history of blood clots or circulation problems.

  • Uncontrolled high or low blood pressure.

  • Thyroid disorders.

  • Asthma or significant respiratory conditions.

  • Diabetes, particularly where circulation or sensation is affected.

  • Bleeding disorders or anticoagulant medication.

  • Abdominal hernias.

  • Diagnosed abdominal aortic aneurysm.

  • Inflammatory bowel conditions, including Crohn's disease or diverticulitis.

  • Unexplained lumps, swelling or persistent pain.

Medical clearance does not automatically mean treatment will be appropriate. Your individual circumstances and the nature of the condition will determine suitability.

We reserve the right to decline or postpone treatment where necessary.

Contra-Actions –

Possible Responses During or After Treatment

Although lymphatic drainage is a gentle technique, some individuals may experience temporary responses.

Possible responses include:

  • Feeling light-headed or dizzy.

  • Mild nausea.

  • Headache.

  • Temporary tiredness or drowsiness.

  • Mild skin warmth, tingling or sensitivity.

  • Increased need to urinate.

  • Temporary emotional responses or feeling particularly relaxed.

These responses are not guaranteed, and they should not be interpreted as evidence that toxins are being released or that the treatment is working.

If you experience discomfort, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness, palpitations or any unusual symptoms during treatment, please inform your therapist immediately. Treatment will be stopped and appropriate action taken.

Severe, persistent or unusual symptoms should be assessed by a healthcare professional. Sudden chest pain, severe breathlessness or symptoms suggestive of a blood clot require urgent medical attention.

Aftercare-

What to Expect Following Your Treatment

Everyone responds differently to massage.

  • Following your Wellness Lymphatic Drainage Massage, it's important to give yourself time to relax, rehydrate and enjoy some well-deserved rest.

  • Your body continues its normal lymphatic processes naturally after treatment. Supporting your general wellbeing through good hydration, rest and gentle movement can help you feel your best.

  • Our Aftercare Recommendations

  • Hydration
Drink water regularly throughout the day to maintain good hydration. Avoid excessive amounts of caffeine or alcohol.

  • Eat Lightly
Choose lighter, balanced meals following your treatment. Ideally avoid heavy, rich, greasy or particularly large meals immediately afterwards, as well as alcohol for the remainder of the day.

  • Prioritise Sleep
A good night's sleep is highly recommended. Allow yourself time to unwind and rest following your treatment. Sleep supports your body's normal recovery and overall wellbeing.

  • Gentle Exercise
Gentle movement, such as walking or light stretching, is encouraged if you feel comfortable. Avoid strenuous exercise immediately afterwards, particularly if you feel tired or light-headed.

  • Steam Rooms
If you regularly use a steam room and are accustomed to the heat, you may return to it when you feel well and properly hydrated. However, avoid excessive heat immediately after treatment, particularly if you feel dizzy, weak or dehydrated. Steam rooms are optional and are not required to support lymphatic drainage.

  • Power Plate / Whole-Body Vibration
If you are already accustomed to using a Power Plate, you may resume your usual gentle routine when you feel comfortable and well. It is not necessary following lymphatic drainage massage and should not be used to force or accelerate lymphatic drainage. Please observe any relevant medical contraindications.

  • Listen to Your Body
Everyone responds differently to massage. Allow yourself time to relax and rest if needed. If you experience nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness or other unusual symptoms, do not assume these are signs of detoxification. Stop any activity, rest and seek medical advice if symptoms are severe, persistent or concerning.

  • There is no need to fast, follow a restrictive diet or undertake a detox programme following your treatment.

  • Wellness Lymphatic Drainage Massage is designed to complement your general wellbeing, not replace your body's natural processes.

  • Rest, rehydrate, eat mindfully and enjoy a good night's sleep. Take some time for yourself – you've earned it!

  • able physical change at all.

Any perceived changes are individual and may be temporary. Results are not guaranteed.

Wellness Lymphatic Drainage Massage is not a weight-loss treatment and cannot guarantee a flatter stomach, permanent reduction in bloating or changes in body shape.

The body's lymphatic system continues to function naturally without the need for massage.

How Often Should You Have Wellness Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

There is no medically established treatment schedule for healthy individuals having lymphatic drainage massage for general wellbeing.

At Pure Serenity Beauty, frequency is entirely a personal choice.

Occasional relaxation: You may choose to enjoy a treatment whenever you feel the need for some dedicated relaxation and self-care.

Regular wellness routine: Some clients may prefer to book every 2–4 weeks as part of their personal wellness routine. This is a suggested booking preference, not a medical requirement or evidence-based treatment schedule.

First-time clients: We recommend starting with one treatment and allowing time to see how you feel before deciding whether to book another.

More frequent treatments are not necessarily better, and there is no requirement to commit to a course of treatments.

If you have persistent swelling, fluid retention or unexplained changes in your body, please seek medical advice rather than relying on massage.

Your Safety and Wellbeing Matter

At Pure Serenity Beauty, every treatment begins with your wellbeing in mind.

Please answer all consultation and health-screening questions honestly and inform us of any changes to your health, medication or medical circumstances before your appointment.

We may need to postpone or decline treatment if it is not appropriate for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this information before booking. We look forward to welcoming you to Pure Serenity Beauty.
