Hopi Ear Candle Treatment
Also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy, Hopi Ear Candling is a gentle, non-invasive treatment designed to support ear, nose, and throat health. Originating from the Native American Hopi tribe (meaning “peaceful people”), this traditional practice has grown in popularity for its soothing and holistic benefits.
What are Hopi Ear Candles?
Made from natural cotton, beeswax, and honey, the candles create a mild vacuum as they burn, helping draw out impurities. Clients may hear soft crackling sounds during the process, which is completely normal. The treatment is deeply relaxing and includes a light head or face massage following an initial consultation.
Potential Benefits:
-
Relief from compacted earwax
-
Easing sinus congestion, glue ear, tinnitus, colds, and flu
-
Helping restore ear pressure (ideal for frequent flyers, swimmers, or divers)
Important considerations:
Hopi Ear Candles are not suitable if you have ear infections, inflammation, grommets, perforated eardrums, allergies to candle ingredients, or have recently undergone major surgery. If you’re unsure, please consult your GP before booking.
For best results, a series of treatments spaced over several weeks is recommended.
Aftercare Advice:
For best results our Aftercare Advice for the Next 24–48 Hours protect your ears and allow the natural cleansing process to continue:
-
Avoid submerging your head in water (such as swimming, baths, or hot tubs) for a recommended period after treatment.
-
This helps prevent water from entering the ear canal while it may be more sensitive.
-
Keep Your Ears Warm. Protect your ears from cold wind or water. A cosy hat or scarf is ideal if you’re heading outdoors.
-
Stay Hydrated sip water or herbal tea to support your body’s natural cleansing processes.
-
Avoid Putting Anything Into the Ear. Let your ears settle naturally. Avoid cotton buds or inserting anything into the ear canal.
-
Take Time to Relax. Your body may continue to unwind after the treatment. Allow yourself some gentle rest if you can.
-
Avoid Loud Environments giving your ears a little break from loud music or noisy spaces.
-
Optional Home Care. A light massage around the ears, jawline and neck can help encourage lymphatic flow and extend the soothing benefits of your treatment.
⚠️ A Note of Care
If you notice ongoing discomfort, dizziness or anything that feels unusual, it’s best to speak with a healthcare professional. Hopi Ear Candling is a holistic therapy and not a replacement for medical care.
